Margaret O. Goodroe

Margaret O. Goodroe, 97, of Ocala, Florida passed away May 10, 2021 at home. She was born in Ocala, Florida to Mitchell and Elizabeth (Ward) Owen. Margaret graduated high school in Plant City, FL and attended Florida State College for Women, graduating with a teaching degree and eventually earning her Master's Degree as well. She taught at schools in Sarasota and Auburndale, FL. Margaret was a member of College Road Baptist Church in Ocala for the past 25 years. She enjoyed helping her husband, the late Rev. Herbert Goodroe (2012), in churches they served. She also sang with the girls of the "Landing Lights" exercise group. Margaret also enjoyed writing for ministry publications including "Open Windows" daily devotional. Other enjoyments were painting and attending "Kingdom of the Son" community concerts. In her younger days she loved to go camping and travelling with her husband. Margaret is survived by her three children; Rev. Dr. David Goodroe of Ocala, FL, Susan (Michael) Goodman of London, England, and Alan (Lydia) Goodroe of Dallas, TX, 8 grandchildren; Beth, Nathan, and Susan, Lauren, Emily, and Walker, and David and Anna Claire, 7 great grandchildren; Cayla, William, Mollie, Joy, Chloe, Berkley, and Jessa, and a sister Ann (Bill) Kicklighter of Tallahassee, FL. Funeral services will be 11:00am on Friday, May 14th at College Rd. Baptist Church, 5010 SW College Rd. Ocala, FL 34474. Mrs. Goodroe will be buried with her husband at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
