John Preston Jowers, 77, of Ocala passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at The Ted and Diane Brandley House in Summerfield. Preston was a native of Homosassa Springs, Florida and moved to this area 67 years ago. He was a retired Air Conditioning mechanic. He could often be found racing in Zuber and continued to follow racing even when he couldn’t do it himself. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Patty Jowers; daughter and son in law, Christi and Paul Merritt; brothers, Gerald F Jowers, Wayne O’Berry and his wife Tonia O’Berry; sister Sharon O’Berry Sheard, granddaughters Kayla and Lauren Merritt, countless nieces and nephews. He was raised by James F. and Martha O’Berry and his father was Orbia C Jowers. He is preceded in death by his brother Stephen O Jowers. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala , FL, 34470. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A private burial will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to THE GIDEONS INTERNATIONAL, P.O.
