Eileen Patricia Gafney was born in Kingston, NY on January 14, 1928, to Amelia Wojcio and John F. Burns. She graduated from the academy of St. Ursula in Kingston, NY and attended Hofstra University for several years. On April 29, 1951, she married Aloysius R. Gafney at St. Mary’s Church in Kingston, NY. They were parents of three children: Aloysius, Robert and Amelia; and grandparents to Robert, Lisa, Kathryn and Sean; and great-grandparents to Alexander, Connor and Benjamin. Eileen retired from Meenan Oil Company in 1991 and moved to Ocala, Florida. She was a daily communicant at Our Lady of the Springs in Ocala and was very active in the parish life. Eileen loved retirement especially settling in Florida with Al where they made many wonderful friends and enjoyed frequent travels. Eileen leaves behind her greatest legacy, “A love for her family”. Memorial service is scheduled Thursday, November 4, 2021 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church, Ocala, FL. Family recommends memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be at Florida National Cemtery, Bushnell, FL.
