Arnold Gray Rodgers

Arnold Gray Rodgers (Arnie), of Dunnellon, FL passed away April 9, 2022 at the Cate’s Hospice House in Ocala, FL. Arnie was 90 and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ocala. He resided in Rainbow Springs, Dunnellon. Arnie was a retired "Manager of Can Forming Equipment and Tooling" at Metal Container Corp. corporate offices in St. Louis Mo. He was involved in the development of the aluminum two piece can and pull tab in the early 60's at Reynolds's Aluminum in Richmond, Va. Arnie was born in Hot Springs, Va in 1931. Preceding him in death were his parents Samuel & Gladys Rodgers of Shacklefords, Va. He is survived by his wife, Ellen, three sons: Gary Rodgers, Donaldson Rodgers, Kevin Rodgers and one daughter, Lisa Rodgers-Shivar, four grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Betty Gay of West Point, Va and Mary Lee of Deltona, Fl. Arnie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was in combat in Korea in 1951-52 aboard the USS Hyman DD732. The service will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Ocala, 2801 SE Maricamp Rd., Ocala, Fl. at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, we ask for a donation to the Handyman Team of the First Baptist Church of Ocala, of which he was grateful to be a part of.
