Everett Wray Petry

Everett Wray Petry of Summerfield, Florida went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. He was 86. Wray was born in Mount Carbon, West Virginia to Ronnie H. Petry and Marjorie Horrocks in 1936. He grew up in the Mountain State and married the love of his life, Betty Carol Dent on June 30, 1962 in Deepwater, West Virginia. Wray and Betty spent time in Norristown, PA before moving to Orlando, Florida, where they lived most of their years. Wray’s professional work was in the truck parts industry and in entrepreneurship. He founded a successful heavy duty truck parts business, Gear and Wheel, in 1981, which he owned and operated for nearly 20 years. Later, he worked in parts marketing for Nextran Truck Centers Outside of his work, Wray was an avid Nascar and sports fan, faithfully attending the Daytona 500 every year he could. He dedicated his time to the church, serving on the board at Calvary Assembly in Orlando for many years. He adored his 5 grandchildren, who affectionately called him Papaw. In passing, Wray is reunited with his parents, his loving wife, Betty as well as his brother Larry Petry and sister Ruth Ann Nichols. He is survived by his two sons, Greg (Ginger) Petry of Summerfield, FL, and Randy (Alicia) Petry of Jackson, GA, as well as his sister Shelby Washko (Joe) of Hinckley, OH, brothers Ronald Petry of Altamonte Springs, FL and James E. Petry (Anna Lou) of Hurricane, WV, his good friend Josie Crane, and his treasured grandchildren, Tori, Savannah, Chase, Alex and Thomas, along with his niece and nephews. Services will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home at 910 E Silver Springs Blvd on Saturday, July 8th. Gathering will commence at noon, followed by the service at 1:00 pm, concluding with the committal at 2:00pm at Highlands Memorial Park.
