Clarence W. Barr, Jr.

Clarence W. Barr, Jr. of The Villages, FL, 97, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at The Villages Hospice House. Born in Bakersfield, CA on June 22, 1920, he was the son of the late Clarence W. Barr, Sr., and Mellye Foust Barr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Cox Barr; son-in-law, Phillip Harmon; sister, Evelyn Goad; and brother, Graham Barr. Clarence graduated from King College, Bristol, TN with a BS degree in Biology. He served in the US Army during WWII under General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Clarence spent most of his career in the furniture and interior decorating business. While living in The Villages, Clarence was a member of Community United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Tennessee Club and WWII Club. He cherished the opportunity to be part of the Honor Flight program to Washington, DC. Clarence enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and traveling. Clarence is survived by his daughter, Helen Harmon of The Villages; and grandchildren Amy Marie Hutcheson and husband, Roy Hutcheson of Huntsville, AL; Christopher Harmon and wife, Brittany Harmon and great grandson, Jaxson Harmon of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Harold Barr of Blountville, TN and one sister, Frances Morgan, of Post Haywood, VA, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service and interment will be in Friday, July 27, 2018 10:30 AM at Gunnings Cemetery, Blountville, TN, where military honors will be rendered.
