Robert Gene Thren, of Lady Lake, Florida passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020, while under the care of hospice. He was 79. He was born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin on June 19, 1940. Bobby served in The United States Army for 21 years. He served two tours in Vietnam and Germany. He proudly retired from the Army as a S.F.C E7. After retirement he was a clock smith. Bobby enjoyed his occasional drink of choice. “This Bud’s for you!” Survivors include his brothers John Thren, Curtis Thren (Patricia); sisters Sharon Webber (Walter), and Susan Eichman (Wayne); son Carlos Schantz (Seema); grandchildren Kevin and Samantha. He was preceded in death by wife his Betty Thren; parents John and Edna Thren. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 from 9:30-10:30 am, with a funeral service at 10:30 am, located at Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162. Burial with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 12:30 pm, Bushnell, FL. It is mandatory for everyone to provide and wear their own mask and the funeral home is limited to 10 people.
