Jane Caldwell

Jane Caldwell was born in Burlington Vt to Warner and Gladys Gregory, and was raised in Essex Junction VT. She enjoyed spending time at their Mallets Bay summer home with her sister Janice and her brother Bob, and was able to form other lifelong friendships during her time there. Jane attended the University of Vermont, and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and graduated in 1957 with a degree in Home Economics. After college she relocated to Boston and worked for Hood & Sons. She loved traveling to schools and educating children on dairy products. Her presentation was “Milk – from Moo to You.” Jane and her 2 daughters returned to VT in the early 1970’s where she continued her teaching career at Browns River Middle School. In August of 1975 she married Richard Caldwell, and they soon relocated to Nashua NH. She continued teaching Home Economics at Nashua High School, and especially enjoyed her classes with special needs students. Upon retiring in 1999, she and her husband “Skip” visited friends in Florida, and fell in love with the Villages, moving there permanently shortly after retiring. Jane happily lived in The Villages for 24 years. She was an avid reader, knitter, golfer and enjoyed her weekly bridge groups. Her family visited often and together they loved to golf and enjoyed many of the Village’s amenities. Her two grandsons were able to visit and enjoyed the many “ mystery trips” she was famous for. Being their “DeeDee” as she was called, was one of her greatest joys of her life. Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Kimberly and Robert Yeadon of Massachusetts her daughter and son-in-law Kellie and Michael Cairns of California, and her grandsons Kyle Yeadon and Kory Yeadon of Massachusetts. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, family members and friends. There will be a Celebration of her life on April 29. 2023 at 11 am.Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home at 3975 Wedgewood Lane The Villages FL
