Simon Emmanuel Currat was born February 3, 2016 to Nic and Lindsey Currat. Simon was an answer to many prayers for a healthy baby after enduring an immense hardship in welcoming his older sister, Anna Elizabeth. His name comes from the Bible, named after Simon the Cyrene who carried the cross of Christ, and a declaration of Emmanuel, which means God is with us. We nicknamed him "Simon Diamond" to reflect what a treasure he was. Many years ago, Simon prayed for a friend and he says that God answered that prayer by giving him his little sister, Renee Eliana. We later welcomed Victor Ebenezer. Simon passed the day Victor turned ten months. Simon was full of energy and loved to ride his bike, run on the treadmill, and chase Renee and steal her "blankek". He was curious and good at asking questions. He was incredibly smart; teaching himself to read at the end of Pre-K and was figuring out multiplication this summer. He had just started horsemanship lessons and was learning to swim with lessons from Dad. Simon was proud of the things that proved he was growing up like losing his teeth and being able to make ramen noodles and scrambled eggs by himself. He loved TobyMac, listening to audiobooks and stories, digging holes in the backyard, Hot Wheels, paper airplanes, and watching SuperBook. He once expressed a desire to see miracles in real life like he saw on SuperBook. His heart had already grown to be a servant to others. He saw the homeless all around the city and wanted to help them so he filled bags with snacks to give to them. He desired to open a caf in our home to serve meals to others. Whenever we invited guests over Simon would open "Best Caf" to serve our friends. He was a good helper to Anna, willing to push her chair, anchor her chair down in the car, and blend food for her g-tube. Not only have we lost a wonderful son, but our kids have lost a best friend, and the world has lost a beautiful, faith-filled soul.
