Paul Bankes, age 79, of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2022 after a short illness. Paul lived with his family in Colorado Springs for over forty years.He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six children. The son of the late Paul, Sr. and Sara (Fisher) Bankes. Paul graduated from Mastbaum High School, Philadelphia in 1961. He faithfully served his country with the Marine Corp and retired in 1981 from the Air Force. His military career allowed him to travel to many countries and states in the US including California where he met his wife, Sandra. They were married for fifty-three years. He became a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in 1986.After retirement Paul worked at Nakata Planning Group for many years and enjoyed many pastimes including wood working, collecting antique clocks and watching Air Force football. He was a gun enthusiast and was a fan of Air Force football, a Denver Broncos fan as well as a Philadelphia Eagles fan.Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Paul, Sr., and Sara (Fisher) Bankes; brothers, Richard and Jim; and sisters, Beverly Kelz and Joann Bitting.He is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Lara (David) Tyree; and son, Paul (Robin) Bankes; grandchildren, Taylor Price, Chase Tyree, Cole Tyree, Michael Akana, Lilly Bankes, Pua Bankes; and great-grandchildren, Autumn Price and Ronan Price.
