Charles Jennings, 93, of Haines City, FL passed away on August 23, 2012 of natural causes. He was born on April 16, 1919 and was a lifelong resident of Haines City. Charles and his wife were the owners of Jennings Hardware in Haines City. They sold the store in 1982 and spent the next 8 years traveling to all 50 states and Europe. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church since 1947 and an active deacon from February 1953 - April 2011. Charles was a proud member of the US Navy and served 4 years during WW II and he was a founding member of VFW Post 4285 in Haines City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burr Thomas and Mellie Mae Jennings; wife of 70 years, Vera Mae Jennings; son, Charles R. Jennings, Jr.; brothers, Douglas and Lacy Wise Jennings and sister, Mary Frances Dixon. Charles is survived by his daughter, Charlene Bunch of Lake Wales, FL; sons, William Jennings of Winter Haven, FL, John (Linda) Jennings of Gadsden, AL; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and 19 nieces and nephews. A visitation will be Monday from 5-7 pm and the funeral will be Tuesday, 8/28/12 at 10 am at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Condolences may be sent via: www.oakridgefuneralcare.com
