Steven Jay Schwartz

On Saturday, August 14, 2021 Steven Jay Schwartz, loving husband of fifty-one years, amazing father of four, and grandfather of twelve, passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs at the age of 73.Steve was born in Pueblo, Colorado on April 19, 1948 to Irving and Shirley Schwartz. He met Cathy, the love of his life, at SCSC when he was 18 years old. After proudly serving with the Marine Corps in Vietnam, Steve and Cathy married on July 11, 1970. Together they raised three daughters, Dayna Schwartz, Julie (Bob) Fischer, Emily (Jason) Schwartz-McCormick; and one son, Jeffrey (Kristen) Schwartz.Steve worked for the Colorado Lottery until his retirement. He was known by all for his quick wit and fantastic sense of humor. Steve was adored by everyone who had the pleasure of crossing his path.Steve was passionate about his Marine Corps service and was actively involved in the Pikes Peak Detachment of the Marine Corps League, where he continued to develop close friendships with his Marine brethren. He will be greatly missed by his detachment.Steve was preceded in death by his parents; and beloved grandparents, Max and Elsie Vassar. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Cathy; his four children; his eleven grandchildren, Maddelynn, Alexander, Johnathan, Jeffrey, Brianna, Kaelynn, Isaac, Cecily, Daniel, Taylor, and Evelyn; and one great-grandson, Malcolm. Steve also leaves behind his sisters, Lisa and Lori; as well as countless nieces, nephews, friends, and family members.He lived for his family and was an amazing example of what a family man truly is.
