Gerald "Jerry" Ray Kempfer
August 10th, 1947 - January 23rd, 2021
Gerald "Jerry" Ray Kempfer, 73, was called home to join God's Choir of Angels on January 23, 2021.Jerry was born August 10, 1947 to Raymond and Wanda Kempfer, and was the first born of five children. Jerry attended Central School in Walsh, Illinois, and Sparta High School in Sparta, Illinois. He honorably served in the United States Army, and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he eventually succumbed to complications of Covid-19. Jerry had a passion for life, adventure, and travel. He and Eric would often visit family across the United States and they especially enjoyed spending time together in Branson, Missouri. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, downtown Colorado Springs, and participated in the Chancel Choir. Jerry will be forever remembered for his caring nature, handsome smile, contagious laugh, and amazing voice. Blessed were those who heard him sing O Holy Night at Christmas or who received a special serenade on their birthday. He brought smiles to many and leaves behind cherished memories with everyone who knew him. Jerry is survived by his four siblings, Vivian (Mary) Kempfer, Diane (Larry) Frees, Kelvin (Caryl) Kempfer, and Susan Huegle (Mike Conner); many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins all whom loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Wanda Kempfer.A private Visitation will be held from 3:00PM-5:00PM, Friday, January 29, 2021.A private Graveside Service will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
