Joseph J. Messina

Joseph J. Messina (Joe), beloved son of Joseph and Martha Messina, passed on June 14, 2017, at the age of 74. Joe was born on March 1, 1943 in Akron, OH. His passing leaves a large void in for those who were blessed know him. He is survived by his loving, supportive wife of 51 years, Ethel (Penny) Messina. He is also survived by his beloved children: Kim (Deal), Joe (Messina), and Michelle (Ortenzo): Kim's husband Anthony; Joe's wife Laura and their children Joey (wife Brittany and daughter, Kyleigh), Tim, Abbie, and Armando (AJ); and Michelle's husband John, their children Antoinette (Toni) and Zachary (Zack). Having recently relocated to Winter Haven FL Tio Jose' was loved and cherished by the Baumbach family, nephew Raymond and his wife Teresa, of Winter Haven, FL and his niece Ruthie and her wife Claire Murphy of Oviedo, FL. He will be missed by his family and friends in his home town of Akron, Ohio, and extended family throughout Maryland and West Virginia. For Joe's distinguished 22-year career in the United States Air Force and 20 years of civil service for the United States Navy will remain of his proudest accomplishments and we will continue to remember and honor his service. All who were lucky enough to have been in his company and life will miss him deeply, we will retell many memories with love and laughter and with profound gratitude and love we cherish his memory. A Celebration of Life Service for Joe will begin at 2pm on Tuesday, June 20th at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.
