Amonie Joseph
March 1st, 1969 - October 6th, 2017
Amonie Joseph (Mummy) was born in Nassau Bahamas on March 1st 1969. Because of her upbringing by her mother and father who were both strong disciplinarians but kind and loving care takers, she carried the grace, dignity, self-control and respect of a Princess. Although it was often said that she was spoiled because of the way she stood out amongst her peers, everyone around her could feel her kindness and self sacrificing love. She was very generous in sharing everything she had with her siblings and in-laws. This love extended to her children of course but also to their close friends, and to anyone that crossed her path. It is this very same love that made her who she was and what she will be remembered by. Although she lost her father in her teenage years she often speaks of her childhood as pleasant and simple. Taking part in activities like skipping rocks and swinging on a tree branch with a homemade tire swing while enjoying her favorite book. It would seem impossible that a woman with a smile so bright and beautiful would have battled so many trials in life, but battle and win she did! As an immigrant mother of six children, to say that her life was not easy would be an understatement. In the year 1993 Amonie decided that she would move to a new country to better the life of her three young children at the time. She later had three more children and did the best she possibly could in order to raise them under difficult circumstances . This may come as a surprise to many because looking at the life of her and her children you would have never know that they were deprived of anything, and they were not. Not only were they given everything they needed and more, they were able to share with all of those who were closely associated with them. Amonies legacy is defined by her children. Anyone who knew her know that she was a mother first. Because she was blessed to have so many children, that came along with many of their friends who also knew her as "Mummy". she has left behind hundreds of children who were privileged enough to be taught by her, to eat her food, to see her beautiful smile of approval when right was being done, and most importantly to be mothered by her. As mentioned before, she has fought and won many battles. She battled the fight of being an immigrant in a country where she could never obtain legal status, she battled the fight of being a mother of six, she battled the fight of staying positive in a negative world, and she also battled the fight of being a strong pillar and someone to look up to even when she felt like giving up. But, as she always taught her children there is a hope and there is a future that will be provided by no other than Jehovah God. The Bible lessons that she taught and instilled in her children and those around her has created the life for her children that she would have always wanted. Unfortunately there was a battle that Mummy did not beat, although she fought cancer and won the first time; the second time was just too much for her, at the age of 48 she passed away in the arms of her children. All of her loved ones and children know how hard she fought to live and it was because of the care that she had for them and their well-being. She often murmured the words " I just want y'all to be Ok." As we remember her today, we can all say that we are okay. The fact that we had the opportunity to be impacted by such a woman is truly a blessing. She has left the standards for her children to be the best parents, friends, servants of Jehovah, and good citizens of this world; she has also left them with her same grace, dignity and self respect so that they can always represent her in a fine and acceptable manner. Only Jehovah God knows how we are affected saddened and desolated by her falling asleep in death; thankfully it is him who promises a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteousness, where his son Jesus Christ will call out the names of those in the Memorial tombs and they will be brought back to life. We pray that this Bible prophecy be fulfilled soon, and we all await the day that we can see Mummy's beautiful smile again.
