Chris Owen Combs
July 25th, 1961 - November 19th, 2020
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Chris Owen Combs, 59, entered eternal life on November 19, 2020, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Chris was born July 25, 1961 in Pueblo, Colorado to Melvin Henry and Carol Ann (Bentley) Combs. The point of pride in his life was his wife of twenty-one years, Heather Elicia Hager Combs, and five beautiful children, Kira Combs (Maxwell) Boyle, Hannah Valorie Combs (Zachary) King, Seth Hoyt Combs, Gabriel John Combs, and Isaac Josiah Combs. He adored his granddaughter, Abigail Elicia-Paige King. All carry on his spirit. He is survived by two sisters, Tracy Lynn (Keven) Plank and Dana Sue (Dave) Legare, as well as an extended family of friends from every walk of life! Chris graduated from Evangel Christian University in Springfield, Missouri with a bachelor of science degree in public administration, and a minor in history. He attended "The American Studies Program" and was employed by senators. He worked for Infor Global Solutions. When it came to business contracts, Chris was the best in the business (and he loved doing it)! He's worked extremely hard all his life, refusing to go on disability, right up to the very end! Chris was an accomplished globe-trotter (world-traveler). Relishing priceless art at The Louvre in Paris, France. Sampled coffees in Cannes. Brushed up against royalty in Monaco. Sipped champagne on the beaches of the French Riviera. Enjoyed lunch on a rooftop overlooking The Parthenon Acropolis, in Athens. Walked the footsteps of Christ in Israel, baptizing each other in the Jordan River. Sipped water straight from coconuts in Jamaica. Went jet-skiing banshees in Key West. Swam with dolphins in Cancun. Biked through Cozumel. Snorkeled in crystal clear waters in Roatan, Honduras, and the Virgin Islands. Glass-bottom canoed in Costa Maya. Was astounded at the majesty of "The Palace of the Popes" in Avignon. We tasted Italy, and it's delicious. Comforted sunburns in many parts of the Caribbean while enjoying five cruises! As well as loving the states, from California to Las Vegas. The family's favorite destination was Siesta Key beach in Sarasota, Florida. We visited that flour-soft white sand as much as we could. Chris taught us many valuable lessons: Pray while you walk. Always be ready to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Cry at the name of Jesus Christ. Kiss and hug your children. Always say "I love you". Let a dog (or two) share your bed. Invite the homeless into your basement (even after those same people robbed you blind). Correspond with the imprisoned. Have Thanksgiving dinner with the cognitively challenged. Always take family vacations. Go on "dates" with your children. Become a basketball coach! Wrestle with your sons. Take your daughter's to "Daddy/Daughter" dances. Be thankful. Those who've taken Chris's lessons to heart will continue to ensure his kind spirit lives on forever. Chris would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a call, a sort of an offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he hasn't seen in a long time. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where music, laughter, and love are guaranteed. He will be socializing, dancing, and telling silly "dad jokes" to his heart's content. A private Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM, Saturday, November 28, 2020. The service will be streamed live. The link to watch the Funeral Service is on Chris' Tribute Wall on The Springs Funeral Services website.
