Roy Logan Folley, Sr., 80, died September 17, 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a long illness.He was born May 21, 1940 in Elyria, Ohio to Roy LaVerne and Rose Eileen (Bisgrove) Folley.He attended Elyria High School, but opted to join the United States Air Force and then United States Navy getting his GED during his service years. He spent much of his working years as a machinist working in various industries in northern Ohio. His later career and education choices were centered around growing in his Christian faith. After volunteering in various ministries and being an active participant in the Assemblies of God churches, where he went on a couple mission trips he decided to increase his faith knowledge by attending Charis Bible College in Woodland Park, Colorado along with his wife, Edna. Roy received his associate's degree as a licensed minister in 2014.Roy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry Lea Folley and John Francis Folley; and his sister, LuAnn Marie Folley Opdyke.He is survived by his wife, Edna Frances Folley; sons, Roy Charles "Chuck" (Cristin) Folley, Rocky Dwayne (Laura) Folley, Douglas Logan (Angela) Folley, Roy Logan (Karen) Folley, Jr., and Scott Allen (Julie) Folley; brother, Neil LaVerne (Debbie) Folley; eight grandchildren, Rocky Folley II, Tracey Folley (Andy) Harris, Jessica Folley, Grace Folley, Alex Folley, Roy Logan (Logan) Folley III, Mackenzie Folley, and William Folley; and four great-grandchildren.Roy enjoyed actively participating on the leadership team of River Rock Church and always loved encouraging others in the faith. He liked to collect Civil War memorabilia, study the Bible with Edna and friends, watch cowboy westerns and faith based movies. He had also lived in Spring Hill, Tennessee and earlier in his life in Phoenix, Arizona.Roy will be remembered for his hearty laugh and love of family, country and faith.Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Saturday, September 26, 2020, River Rock Church, 4135 Centennial Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907. Reception to follow.Flowers will be received at the church after 12:00PM and memorial contributions in Roy's memory may be made to River Rock Church. Another Memorial Service with military honors will be planned at a later date in Ohio to accommodate numerous other family and friends.
