Michael Joseph Rowney

Michael Joseph Rowney, age 13, passed away on Thursday, August 27 at his home.He was born on December 6, 2006, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Mikey enjoyed what most 13-year-old boys do from playing video games and soccer, watching the latest memes and anime, and finding deep enjoyment in pushing the "buttons" of his siblings, parents, and anyone else he loved.He was the "goofball" and "class clown" of his friends at school. Always bringing a smile or a laugh to anyone who interacted with him. A heartthrob amongst the ladies and never identified with a specific "click," but friends with everyone.Mikey's mentality was to challenge everything, so that he could fully grasp whatever it may be. Once he fully grasped a reason "why," he was 100% on board, which was certainly a challenge for many of his teachers as well as his parents. Because of this strong will, it became a true attribute of his leadership and such a blessing to so many. Often times through the week, you would find Mikey at his Grandparent's house, just a couple blocks away, where he just came to watch videos on his phone or drop in to see how could be spoiled. He was a prankster and was often up to some mischievous plan that was sure to get either a smile or stern voice saying "Michael."He loved his big family. Any moment he could get his mom to scratch or draw on his back was a moment in heaven for him, along with hogging all his mom's homemade banana bread, his favorite! Going out to California and spending time with his Dad looking over the bay and saying, "I could be in this moment forever with you, Dad." Or in constant battle with his older brother with their own insidejokes. There was no doubt he loved them all so much.He leaves behind his mother and father, Melissa Derosier and Andrew Rowney; his siblings, Cameron, Naomi, Nehemiah, Giana, and Jed; his grandparents, Bob and Patti Rogers, Dave and Becky Souza, and Michael and Joann Rowney; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.There will be a candlelight vigil on Sunday, August 30th, at 8:30 PM, outside his home, 423 Chamberlin Place, 80906.Celebration of Life Ceremony, 10:00AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2020, Restoration Church, 9355 Peaceful Valley Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
