Nancy Antoinette Sampson
February 3rd, 1929 - August 22nd, 2020
Nancy Antoinette (Brunello) Sampson, 91, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully and with grace on August 22, 2020 at Mount St. Francis Nursing Center. She was surrounded by her loving family.Nancy was born in the Bronx, New York on February 3, 1929 to Emma Szucs Brunello and Antonio Brunello. She attended Hunter College and worked as a teacher. Nancy married Joseph Gordon Sampson on June 7, 1952. Together they raised six daughters in Seaford, New York and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Nancy loved her large family, God, the Catholic Church, quilting and needle arts, baking and traveling. She was very active in her church and the Council of Catholic Women. She loved the cats she nurtured throughout her life.She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sampson; sons-in-law, Gregory Schooley and Rusty Scott; her sister, Gloria Rivera; brothers-in-law, George (Helen) Sampson, Fr. William Sampson S.J. and Charles Sampson; and sister-in-law, Marcella (Carl) Swanson; and other extended family members.Nancy is survived by her children, Gwen Schooley, Jean Sampson, Gerri (Chris) Hooper, Margie (Jesse) Sampson-Smith, Lisa (Charlie) Schoep and Joanne Scott; her grandchildren, Christopher Peters, Marissa (Jon) Peters, Abby (Andy) Wagstrom, Ian (Kara) Schooley, Christopher (Sarah) Schooley, Sarah (Ralph) Schooley, Adam (Meg) Schooley, Matthew (Jessa) Schooley, Andrew (Katie) Hooper, Ryan (Alyssa) Hooper, Tessa Hooper, Alec Schoep, Josh Schoep, Natasha Smith, Carter Smith, Katarina Smith, Cooper Scott, Jenna Scott and Kami Scott; and great-grandchildren, Amelia Schooley, Hazel Schooley, Emma Hooper, Logan Hooper, Ayla Schooley and Finn Wagstrom, with Baby Huntington on the way; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mount St. Francis Nursing Center, Interim Healthcare, and the Gardens at St. Elizabeth for their dedication to our mother's care.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nancy's memory may be made to Mount St. Francis Nursing Center or the Catholic Charities Marian House and Hanifen Center. Nancy will be buried alongside her husband, Joseph, on Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
