Randy Leland Lubbers
May 19th, 1962 - April 13th, 2020
Randy Leland Lubbers, 57, passed away on April 13, 2020 at home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on May 19, 1962 in Durango, Colorado to John Henry and Betty Marie Lubbers. Randy was captivated by the beauty of our galaxy,NASA, and space exploration. He would often point out constellations, describing the pattern they created. Not only did Randy love space, but he was also infatuated with engineering. Tinkering with gadgets, reading, and using technology, knowing what would add an improvement, what the inner workings were, and how something functioned and why, were very significantto him. Any knowledge he could gain was important. In his later years, he took up a love for gardening. Randy's brother-in-law built him several raised beds at the family home so he could grow plants, vegetables, and flowers from seed. Undoubtedly, he had a green thumb. He even kept an orchid flourishing, which is not an easy task! Randy always enjoyed being around people. He was well-connected to those around him and the time spent with family and friends was pleasant forhim. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Betty Marie Lubbers; sisters, Cheryl Lynn Babcock, Debra Ann Lubbers, Rebecca Kay Fellows and Sandra Jean Lubbers; and brother, Donald Clarke Lubbers.Randy is survived by the love of his life, Susan Gallegos; her sons, Thomas (Kristi) Salzman, Matthew Gallegos, and daughter, Nickeesha Gallegos; as well as Susan's grandchildren, Cyndal, Baylee, Dakoda, Wesley, Damon, and Nickolas. He was very fond of them. He is also survived by his siblings, Connie (Kent) Brown, John Lubbers Jr., Susan Watt, Patricia (Chris) Cote, Jacqueline (Vince) Tatum, Darryl (Karen) Lubbers, Shelly Lubbers, and Jean (Brad) Van Genderen; and a brother-in-law, Steve (Cheryl) Babcock. Randy enjoyed all of his nieces and nephews, McCoy (Adrianna) Hawkins, Elisa (Naoi) Leialoha, Sarah (George) Pierson, Matthew (Brenda) Rouleau, Mandy Koehn, Melissa Koehn, Tommy Watt II, Sarah (Jacob) Lockhart, Lindsey Tatum, Amanda (Aaron) Burns, Allison Williams, Austin Lubbers, Zachary Lubbers, Danial Fellows, Christopher Fellows, Mercedes (James) Clayton, Cassandra Fellows, Sevriana Mathews, Hannah Hadley, Max Entz, Madison Worthington, Barry Owens, Tracey Owens, Michael (Lori) Wescott, and Debbie (Michael) Fisher; his twenty great-nieces; and fourteen great-nephews. He was also blessed to have a second family and life-long friends, Wayne and Sandra Bennett, Ron Bennett, Sam Bennett, Dave Bennett, and Julie Shaw. The Bennett family had a tremendous impact on Randy's life. Their unwavering support got him through the ups and downs throughout his life and led him closer to God. Although his heart of gold and fighting spirit will be missed tremendously, we take comfort in knowing that Randy is spending eternity with our Lord, Jesus.A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
