Diego Mercado Santiago

Diego Mercado Santiago, of Kissimmee, FL, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 70. Diego was born on November 5, 1947 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to Diego Mercado, Sr. and Concepción Santiago. He moved to Kissimmee, FL in 2017 from Puerto Rico, worked as porter at an apartment building for many years and was of the catholic faith. Diego was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved gardening, joking and listening to music, especially "Salsa". He was always happy. Diego was a hardworking man and a family man. He will be truly missed by his family and by those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Isabel Mercado; children, Omayra Rivera and husband, Richard of Bronx, NY, Iris Mercado of New York, NY, Melissa Wilson and husband, John of Bronx, NY and Cynthia Abreu of Kissimmee, FL; sisters, Iris, Celia, Margot and Lalia; grandchildren, Cyril, Devin, Christopher, Elijah, Romeo, Juliann and Destiny. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St Ann Catholic Church in Haines City, Florida.
