Garry Hayes Bumgarner

On January 14, 2019 Garry Bumgarner left this life for a better one in Heaven. Through his long battle with cancer, we saw his strength every day. His faith in God never wavered. He was a very straightforward man with tremendous integrity. He had a unique sense of humor, outstanding work ethic, and an astounding wealth of knowledge that always amazed us. He was always our hero and our anchor. Garry was born on June 14, 1954 in Clayton, GA moving to Winter Haven as a child. He is predeceased by his father, Frank, his mother, Rose and siblings: Linda, Danny and Frank. He was retired from State Farm insurance in 2018 and had recently moved from Dawsonville, GA. Garry was an avid reader, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved nature. He was a volunteer with the Nature Conservancy, being very involved with the Scrub Jay watch. He was a member of the Methodist Church and in the past worked on several volunteer projects. He was also a rabid Miami Dolphins fan. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Jane. They were married 35 years. His daughter, Lori Cain (Steve Smith), Danielsville, Ga; and his grandchildren, who thought he hung the moon, are Kayleigh (Lonski) Hill and her husband Josh, Garrett Lonski, and Jarred Cain. He is also survived by his sister Brenda Kellogg; brothers Billy Joe and Terry; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Oak Ridge Funeral Care 2425 Havendale Blvd. Winter Haven, FL 33881 on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 3pm. The family will be receiving friends from 2-3pm one hour prior to the service. Special thanks to the Daisy team of Good Shepherd Hospice, especially his nurse, Melissa.
