Elder Joseph Humphries
September 4th, 1929 - September 8th, 2020
Elder Joseph Humphries, Jr., 91, of Haines City, FL, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. He was born on September 4, 1929 in Amelia, OH to Joseph A. and Bertha Stevens-Humphries. He was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the United State Army from 1951 to 1953. He worked for Ford Motor Company as an assembler, giving them 13 years of service, until his retirement in 1974. Joseph moved to Florida in 1975 from Clarksville, OH and he was a member and Elder of Little Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Davenport, FL. Joseph loved church, God, his country, and, above all else, he loved and adored his family. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandbabies. Joseph was a very happy, outgoing man, who was dedicated to his family and he will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Laurel Humphries. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, of 67 years, Janet Louise Humphries; sons, Joseph (Vanessa) Humphries, III of Clarksville, OH, Jack H. (Alwilda) Humphries of Winter Haven, FL, James D. (Dawn Michelle) Humphries of Dundee, FL and Jason D. (Daphine) of Marion, VA; daughters, Judy (Bernett) Strickland of Davenport, FL and Jean (Robert) Anderson of Marion, VA; sister, Viola Sibert of Batavia, OH; 13 grandbabies; 30 great grandbabies; and a great-great grandbaby. A visitation will be held Friday, September 11, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m., all at Little Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Davenport, FL. Final Resting Place will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, FL.
