Larry Mills of Haines City, Florida passed away on October 28, 2020. He was 76. Larry was born on September 24, 1944 in Savannah, Georgia to Cecil and Beatrice Richarson Mills and moved to Haines City in 1969 from Fort Hood in Texas after serving for 3 years in the US Army, during which time he served in the Vietnam War. After the military, Larry set up family with his wife and worked as a welder and skilled fabricator for most of his life, and for the last 8 years was a bus driver for Polk County School Board. He was of the Baptist faith and loved to spend time with his family. Larry loved airboats, whether he was riding on one or building one anything to get him on the water, where he felt at ease and at home. He was predeceased by his parents and son, Wayne Mills. Larry is survived by his loving wife, of 57 years, Shirley Mills; son, Johnny Mills of Haines City; sister, Merle Cowan of Arizona and granddaughter, Nicholle Clark of Haines City. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 5 pm until the celebration of life service at 6 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City.
