Marie M. Williams
November 20th, 1926 - December 21st, 2020
Marie M. Williams was born November 20, 1926. She was the daughter of Ruth A. and Joseph W. Miller. She married Theodore Ray Williams on August 11, 1951 and moved to Gainesville, Florida after he was discharged from the U. S. Navy. In 1951, they opened a retail business and operated it for 38 years. They retired in 1989 from their business. Their daughter Lynn was born in September of 1956. T. Ray and Marie were married 51 ½ years when he passed away. Marie was a member of Gainesville Chapter #44, Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She served as Worthy Matron, Treasurer for many years and secretary for years. In 1989-90 she was appointed Grand Electa for the State of Florida. She was also a member of Four Seasons Garden Club, Khem Temple # 85 in Jacksonville and a new member class was named for her. Then when she was in her mid seventies, she enrolled in college and graduated in 2004 with a degree in Business Administration. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Baker and a grandson, Robert Lee Baker, III and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Graveside Services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Forest Meadows Cemetery East in Gainesville, Florida.
