Freda Martinez

Freda Martinez, 86, of Haines City, Florida passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at AdventHealth Heart of Florida. Born on December 4, 1934 in Frederick, Maryland to Frederick Gilmore and Elsie Shelton Tyeryar. She moved to Florida in 1983 from Frederick, Maryland and she was a homemaker. Freda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed staying at home caring for her three dogs, Lola, Scrappy and Blacky. Freda loved being outdoors, going to yard sales and watching game shows on TV. Despite an eighth-grade education, she became a self-taught and educated woman. Her family remembers her as a strong and giving woman, who would do anything she could to help her family at any time. She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, five brothers, and son, Paul Douglas Derry. She is survived by her husband, of 25 years, Javier Martinez, Jimenez; sons, John Carpenter of Haines City, Florida and Everette Carpenter and wife, Gloria of Germantown, Maryland; daughter, Linda Jones and husband, Gary of Leonardtown, Maryland; three grandchildren, John Carpenter, Jr, Paula Lillard and Tony Ranalli; two great grandchildren, Riley Lillard and Regan Lillard. A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida until the graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, Florida.
