Theodos George Pappas

Theodos George Pappas Age 95 World War II Veteran Theodos George Pappas of Haines City, FL passed away on Saturday, May 22nd, 2021 at Winter Haven Hospital. Born on November 3rd, 1925 in Paliouri, Greece. Theodos worked on the family farm until the outbreak of World War II. He served in the Greek Military Police, was wounded twice in combat, received multiple awards for heroism, and had the honor of meeting General Dwight Eisenhower while assigned to his security attachment. He met his future wife, Ruth Pappas, of Eufaula, Alabama while she was visiting Greece. The two were married in Greece on February 15th, 1955, and later moved to the United States. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this year. Theodos was employed with Florida's Natural Growers in Lake Wales for 47 years, before retiring in 2015. A loving husband, father, grand-father, and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Ruth Pappas, their five children; Kenneth, Johnnie, George, Debi and Chris; and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With his wonderful personality, he was truly loved by everyone who knew him. A viewing is being held on Tuesday, May 25th from 5 - 7 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 1001 E. Grace Avenue, Haines City, FL. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 26th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 1030 Bradbury Road in Winter Haven, FL.
