Dorothy Mae (Everhart) Crouse, age 94, of Boonville, North Carolina passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on September 13, 2021. She is now in the presence of Jesus. Dorothy, better known as Cass, Dot, Dot Dot, Grandma Dot or Mother, was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on March 28, 1927, to parents Joe and Emma Everhart. She is preceded in death by her parents: Joe and Emma Everhart, two husbands: John (Bill) Robbins and George C. Crouse, three sisters: Edith Atwood, Jackie Mayes, and Faye Walser and two sons: Rodney Crouse and Larry Crouse. She is survived by two sons: Terry Robbins (Carla) and Randy Crouse (Dianna) and daughter Kathy Glover (Jimmy), four grandchildren, Christopher Bryant, Michelle Robbins, Kevin Crouse (Caryn) and Heather Barkman (Jonathan), seven great grandchildren: Ryan Sanders, Brooke Sanders, Meadow Crouse, Haliyah Barkman, Zaydan Barkman, Aniyah Barkman, and Malakhi Barkman, one great-great grandchild: Hudson Mickens, and her beloved nieces and nephews. Dot had an infectiously sweet, spunky spirit and was adored by all who knew her. She was a strong, independent woman who always put her family first and someone you could always count on as a constant source of strength and encouragement. Most of her life, she was a stay-at-home mom, taking wonderful care of her five children but also did whatever it took to keep food on the table. She worked at many places throughout the years including Woolworths, Hanes Clothing, a thrift store, a car dealership, Lake Hill Baptist Church childcare, a peach factory, and an orange grove. For the last 20+ years Dot has enjoyed living alone in a cute little apartment, filled with lighthouses and cats, putting together puzzles, reading Danielle Steele books, and listening to Alan Jackson. She spoiled many animals over the years, Cindy, Sheba, Barney and Salem to name a few. She loved Disney and camping and celebrating all the Holidays, her favorites being her birthday and the annual mother/daughter trip to Myrtle Beach. She loved junk food and had a sweet tooth just as sweet as her. You could always count on a smile, a big hug, and a bowl of candy being on the coffee table when you’d visit. She will be immensely missed here on earth, but we delight in knowing that she’s been reunited with those who have gone on before her. A visitation will be Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 10 am until the funeral at 11 am at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City with Pastor Mitchell Johns officiating. Final resting place will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, Florida.
