Shahrzad Delshad Ashchi

Shahrazad Delshad Ashchi 11/11/1934 - 03/27/2023 Shahrazad Ashchi, daughter of Nasrallah and Khayriyyeh Delshad was born on November 11, 1934 in Haifa Israel. Her name was given to her by her father whom after reading the novel One Thousand and One Nights, was so fascinated by the heroine of the novel that he gave her that name. Like the heroine in that novel, she too loved to tell stories and was a great storyteller. She was Married to Shokrallah Ashchi who loved, honored and respected her for close to 60 years. He always called her Shah (short for king) and he certainly treasured her as his queen. She is survived by 2 siblings – Hakeem and Amal Delshad. She has 5 Children: Tahereh, Negar, Nader, Mahrou and Parvin. She also has 9 grandchildren: Michael, Ameer, Tristen, Ryon, Amanda, Randy, Conan, Malina, Amelia and finally she has 5 Great-Grandchildren: Layla, Rylan, Sophia, Asia and Alexander. After her marriage, she lived with Shokrallah in Akka for 9 years then moved to Junaynih for 11 years, followed by Tehran for 4 years and finally settled in Polk County, FL as of 1977. The move from Israel to Iran was as obedience to the request of the Universal House of Justice and so was the move from Iran to the USA. Shahrazad’s first love is Baha’u’llah and serving His Cause. Like most people who discover an awesome restaurant or see a fabulous movie, she couldn’t wait to tell people about the Baha’i Faith and was always passionate about sharing her Faith and love for Baha’u’llah with anyone who crossed her path, even people at the checkout counter in a store, were lucky enough to hear her story. The Baha’i Faith was always the center of her life and everything that she did was with the intention of being pleasing to or the fear of being displeasing to God. Shahrazad and the love of her life, Shokrallah literally saved pennies and sacrificed much to purchase and donate a Baha'i Center for the use and enjoyment of the friends in the Polk County area and beyond. People from around the world would call and ask her for prayers during their difficult times and she would ALWAYS take all requests to heart and honor every request, not once, but daily until that difficulty was removed. Shahrazad loved cooking and was extremely good and fast at it. Her food was truly delicious, not only according to her family’s tastebuds, but everyone who ever had her food (thousands of people), would say how delicious it is. She could whip up a meal in minutes and has been known to feed over a hundred people on many occasions and doing so alone, effortlessly, plentifully and deliciously. Teta, which means grandmother, loved her grandkids like no other grandmother. Each one of her 9 grandkids adored her and could not get enough of her presence, her humor or her delicious food. She Loved people in general and everyone who knew her could always count on making any request from her, knowing she would never turn down help for any soul. She was the greater family’s nurse. Starting with her father as a cancer patient, she was the only one he trusted with his pain medication shots while she was only in her early teens. That tradition continued for the rest of her life and was always a loving nurse and caretaker to anyone in need. Shahrazad was an incredible home maker, worked as a teacher of sewing and a great seamstress, and her final job was for 24 years at the Winter Haven Hospital from where she retired 20 years ago. Shahrazad had a great sense of humor and loved laughter. She also loved gardening, music, singing, movies. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm till 1:00pm, and services will begin at 1:00pm, Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.
