James Weatherly

James Thomas Weatherly, a deeply cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 65 on May 15, 2023, in Winter Haven, FL. Born on March 5, 1958, in Atlanta, GA, James led a life defined by his deep unwavering faith and a profound love for his family. James' enduring Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. His actions reflected his beliefs, providing him with strength during his year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. James dedicated 40 years to his career as a commercial pilot and instructor, but it was his family that truly defined him. He is preceded in death by his parents David and Ruth Weatherly of Atlanta and his brother Bruce. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Vickie, his sons, Dexter and Christopher, daughters in law, Kimberly and Megan, and his four beloved grandchildren, Luke, Emily, Sophie, and Eli. His laughter, wisdom, and stories will be profoundly missed, but his legacy lives on through his loved ones. Despite his illness, James' spirit and humor remained undiminished, a testament to his faith and resilience. His family extends their sincere gratitude to all those who have loved and cared for James during this challenging time. A funeral service, celebrating James' life and faith, will be held at Oakridge Funeral Care (2425 W. Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven, FL 33881) on Saturday, May 20. Viewing will commence at 10 AM, followed by the service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for any donations be made to the charity 40 Days for Life (40daysforlife.com). James Weatherly's passing leaves a profound imprint on many hearts. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit, the love he shared, and the faith he demonstrated will continue to inspire and guide all who knew him. In the spirit of James' steadfast faith, we are comforted by the words of Romans 8:35, 37-39: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? ... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
