CPO Thomas L. Richey, U.S. Navy,
September 22nd, 1945 - January 21st, 2019
Thomas L. Richey, 73, died unexpectedly on January 21, 2019 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born September 22, 1945 in Greeley, Colorado, the son of Gerald S. and Leona (Atkins) Richey.Tom graduated from Coronado High School in Coronado, California in the Class of 1963. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and then retired from active duty in 1970. Tom then became a reservist in the U.S. Navy and was activated during the Gulf War. He remained in the reserves until he retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1996. He also had a career with Public Service Company of Colorado and worked there for more than twenty-five years and later at Western Sling. He was an active member of several churches, enjoyed jogging, watching sports, camping, jazz and blues concerts and spending time in their home near the beach in San Felipe, Mexico. He is remembered as a loyal friend, loving father and grandfather and an engaging conversationalist.Tom is survived by his wife, Pamela (Miller) Richey; his son, Mathew (Penny Kelso) and wife, Michelle (Powell) of Arvada, Colorado and grandchildren, Liam, Brandy, Kellen, and Amelia; his son, Micah of Lakewood, Colorado and grandchildren, Logan and Ashlyn; his son, Seth and wife, Heather (Utecht) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and grandson, Ezekiel. Tom is also survived by his sister, Roslyn (Richey) Raue of Carlsbad, California and husband, John and their sons, Patrick and Nicholas.Memorial Service, 10:00AM, Friday, February 8, 2019, Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 120 North 31st Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904.
