Billie Louise (Koepnick) Staab passed away on August 25, 2018 at Sunny Vista Living Center surrounded by family and friends.She was born on April 17, 1929 in Evanston, Illinois and was raised in Burlington, Wisconsin.The family moved to Chicago during WWII and returned to Wisconsin in 1945.Billie moved to Crocket, California and finished high school, graduating in 1947. She moved back to Wisconsin, enrolled in a two year Teachers College (Racine-Kenosha Rural Normal School in Union Grove, Wisconsin), and graduated in 1949. She moved to Colorado in 1953, married Celestine Joseph Staab (which lasted 8 years), and had three children.Billie worked as a school teacher in Wisconsin and Colorado and as a secretary for General Motors Oldsmobile Division in Denver, the Colorado Division of Employment for ten years, and for Public Service Company for twelve years before retiring in 1994. She moved to Colorado Springs in 2004. Billie was an avid golfer and loved music, painting, and ice cream.She played the ukulele, dulcimer, lap harp, and washboard and performed with the Loveland Heartbeats; sang in the church choir for over fifty years; painted many watercolors; and ate a LOT of ice creamBillie was very religious and studied Lutheran church history and teachings avidly.Her many books on Martin Luther and on the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, as well as her bibles, are highlighted and contain marginal notes throughout. She ensured her children were enrolled in Lutheran school (at Emmaus in Denver).She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene (Ludwig) Koepnick; father, Raymond Koepnick; sisters, Caryl Golovich and Phyllis Barnett; granddaughter, Cara Ashcroft; and grandson, Zachariah Staab.Billie is survived by her daughter, Ti; her sons, Tracy and his wife Monica and Toby and his wife Sandy; four grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.Visitation, 9:30AM-10:30AM, Thursday, August 30, 2018, The Springs Funeral Services-North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923, Funeral Service will follow at 10:30AM. Graveside services, 3:30PM, Loveland Burial Park, Loveland, Colorado where will be buried next to her beloved sister.
