David Jeffrey "Jeff" Atkinson
February 21st, 1963 - November 8th, 2016
David Jeffrey Atkinson, age 53, passed away peacefully in his home in Colorado Springs on November 8, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, and friend to many. A memorial service will be held at Woodmen Valley Chapel at the Rockrimmon Campus in the Stone Chapel, 290 E. Woodmen Road, Colorado Springs Colorado, 80919 at 1:00PM on Friday, November 11, 2016 with a reception to follow. Jeff was born to Jacque and Kent Atkinson on February 21, 1963 in Belleville, Illinois. He graduated from T. F. Riggs High School in Pierre, South Dakota. He then attended SDSU in Brookings, South Dakota for three years. He also graduated from DIT with a Production Art Degree. At SDSU, he met his wife, Susan Mooney Atkinson. Jeff and Susan were married September 3, 1988 and enjoyed 28 years of marriage. Their daughter, Abby Evan Atkinson, was born December 16, 1996. Jeff was employed by several companies as an Art Director. He was most recently employed by Northrup Grumman, where he was a Senior Graphic Designer. He worked at both of the Aurora and Colorado Springs campuses for twelve years.Jeff was a very loving and humorous man. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He loved his family, friends and country. He always had a joke to tell and enjoyed making people smile and laugh. He was a wonderful provider for his family and a hard-working man. Everyone who knew him commented on how he had a very kind and generous heart. He was always willing to help others at any time. Of all of his accomplishments, his greatest pride and joy was his daughter, Abby. Jeff is preceded in death by his brother William Bryan Atkinson. He is survived by his wife Susan, his daughter Abby, his mother Jacque, his father Kent, and his sisters Martha and Suzanne. There are also seven and brother and sisters-in-law, and fifteen nieces and nephews. Floral tributes are welcome, or monetary donations may be made in Jeff's name to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation or Heartfelt Care at Home.
