For the past 30 years he lived in Gladwin Michigan and Saginaw Michigan. Dick married Kathleen in Milwaukee when he was twenty and was a partner in life with her for the last 54 years. Dick's approach to life was to always be moving forward in pursuit of his goals. With this approach he provided guidance and inspiration to his family and many others to help them all be better versions of themselves. This was something he accomplished quietly with the combination of suggestion and humor. In many ways Dick lived the life that he wanted and needed to. Family and nature were the backbones of his life. Laughter was the key thing he always brought to family gatherings. The combination of is story telling skills and quick wit created many priceless moments. He filled his life with camping, fishing, photography, hunting, boating, archery, theater and novels. They made extensive use of this through travel, exploration, love of the outdoors and life. Dick, with his wife Kathy, traveled to 49 states and 23 countries. His most loved adventure was a three-week raft trip with family through the Grand Canyon at age 63. He also loved family reunions and gatherings with friends at their lake house.Dick began his working career young in life and always had a creative approach. He worked in the manufacturing industry as both an engineer and manager. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a BSME, Early in his career he worked with AC Delco on the space program in the 1960's. In addition he worked with Magnavox, Cummins Engine Company, Baker Perkins, APV Chemical and Saginaw Valley State University as director of the Center for Manufacturing Improvement. His accomplishments were many but ranged from the little part on the back of a Cummins truck engine, that he always pointed out to his family, to building fuel mixers for the Space Shuttle.
