Inez Lorraine McNabb-Shorland

Inez Lorraine McNabb-Shorland, age 84, passed away on May 6, 2015 at Brookdale Bear Creek. She retired after many years of service with the Federal Express Corporation. She was a remarkable and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Inez Lorraine Barron was born on January 29, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William T. and Vera I. (Sherwood) Barron. She graduated from Redford Union High School in Detroit. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida and her Master's at age 70 from Colorado Technical University.She married Howard R. McNabb on February 12, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan. Howard passed away on January 1, 1988. She later married Desmond Shorland on June 14, 1997 at Chapel of Our Saviour Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs. Together, they sang in the church choir, were members of the handbell choir, and sang with the Senior Chorale of the Rockies. Inez was also a member of the Daughters of the King through her church. After two mission trips, she had a special place in her heart for the children of Haiti. She loved gardening, flowers and travel.She is survived by her loving husband, Des; her children: Judy McNabb, Dennis McNabb, Greg (and Lori) McNabb, James (and Cheria) McNabb, John McNabb and Daniel McNabb. She is also survived by her brothers: Robert (and Bonnie) Barron, Bruce (and Nancy) Barron, as well as 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sisters Vera Frances Barron Marsh and Donna Rae Barron Manchester.She is also survived by Des' children: Michael (and Patty) Shorland, Kevin (and Cheryll) Shorland and Timothy (and Diane) Shorland.Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 29, at Chapel of Our Saviour Episcopal Church, 8 Fourth St., Colorado Springs. Burial will follow at the church columbarium garden and a reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Colorado Haiti Project in care of Chapel of Our Saviour.
