Thomas Ralph Wohlford
April 29th, 1924 - April 1st, 2015
Tom was born April 29, 1924 in Schuyler, Nebraska to Lester Earl and Edith Lucille (Thrush) Wohlford. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1942. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln until joining the U.S. Army in 1943. He was selected to attend the Army pre-dental program at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. He was called to active duty in 1944 and spent 18 months in Italy in the occupation forces, assigned as manager for one of the Civilian Employment Officers in Rome. During his duty he spent most of his free time traveling extensively the entire country of Italy.Tom was honorably discharged from the Army in the spring of 1946 and returned to his family on the family farm near Schuyler, Nebraska. In the fall of 1946 he moved with his mother, Aunt Cecil Reed, and brother Robert to Denver, Colorado and purchased a home there. He attended the University of Denver, graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1949.He was employed by Butler Paper Company, a division on Georgia Pacific Corp. for 37 years, retiring as Vice President in 1988. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and the Mount Vernon Country Club.He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Robert Lester Wohlford; his parents; and grandparents. Tom is survived by his sister-in-law, Betty Wohlford; niece, Minda (Joe) Wohlford Lueras; nephews, Tom (Sherry) Wohlford and Ken (Nikki) Wohlf; great-nephews, Robert Lueras, Jordan Lueras and Rowan Wohlf; great-nieces, Sarah (Justus) Wohlford Nieland, Katherine Wohlford, Alexis Lueras and Anne Wohlford; and great-grandnieces, Annika Wohlford, Danielle Lueras, Lila Nieland and Iris Nieland.Tom will be interred in the family plot at the Purple Cane Cemetery, Rogers, Nebraska.In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Tom's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
