Larry Allen Thanscheidt
March 4th, 1953 - November 9th, 2013
Larry Allen Thanscheidt was born March 4, 1953 and died in his home in Colorado Springs on November 5, 2013.Larry was born the fifth child to Ardith and Mary Lou Thanscheidt in Colorado Springs, CO., where he lived until 1965 when he moved to the Thanscheidt family farm in Buffalo, OK. Larry graduated from Mooreland High School in 1971.After high school he attended Southwestern Oklahoma College and Bethany Nazarene College.Larry had many jobs in his life, many in the construction, roofing, remodeling and maintenance,mostly in Oklahoma until 1989 when he moved back to Colorado Springs. It was there that he would make the transition to his career with Civil Service at Peterson AFB as a procurement technician in the 21st Contracting Squadron. He would work there and at Schriever AFB until his retirement in 2007.Larry lived life in the moment, never giving much thought about tomorrow. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, water-skiing, and bowling. He also loved his 3 "Scotty" dogs....taking them for walks and runs in Bear Creek Dog Park and on trips to Oklahoma.Words from his family and friends used to describe Larry include: one of a kind, unique, easy-going, giving, loyal, generous, gracious, accommodating, friendly, out-going, big-smile, never met a stranger, tender-hearted. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardith Thanscheidt and Mary Lou Thanscheidt and sister Linda Kay Thanscheidt.Larry is survived by sister, Karen and husband Matt Shirola of Colorado Springs, brother David Thanscheidt of Colorado Springs and twin brother Garry and wife Susan Thanscheidt of Bethany, OK.,nine nephews, three nieces, fourteen great-nephews, seven great-nieces and many friends in Oklahoma and Colorado Springs.All are welcome to attend a Memorial Service to celebrate Larry's life at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E.
