Lydia Walters-Schneider died June 3, 2013. Absent from the body, present with the Lord. Loving wife of James Andrew Schneider since February 2009. Previously, loving wife of the late Floyd Walters. Mother of Dale (Sandy) Walters and Michael (Kim) Walters. Step-Mother of David (Cheryl) Schneider. Sister of Ruth Nastepniak, Rita (Conrad) Koller, and Jack Woynowski. Sister, by adoption, cousins Bill and Joe Wonowski. Sister-in-law of John (Liesel) Schneider, Julie (Bob) Wallace, Joseph (Shirley) Schneider, Joyce (Dale) Sasse. Great-Grandmother, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin, Friend.Biography Lydia Cecilia Walters-Schneider was born September 27, 1937 to Julian and Cecilia Ohl Wonowski of Siedlce, Poland. She is the second of their four children: Ruth, Lydia, Rita, Jack. She also has two adopted brothers, cousins Bill and Joe. They were raised by their mother in Germany during WW ll, while their father, a Polish army officer, was in a German concentration camp. After the American liberation they came to the United States, after their mother died in 1948. Arriving in Chicago IL, the children attended a Catholic orphanage until Lydia graduated from 8th grade. Her father re-married and the family lived together until Lydia graduated high school in January 1956. Lydia became a Beautician. After one year, she joined the United States Air Force where she served as a flight attendant and flew all over the world. She met and married fellow Airman Floyd Walters on October7, 1957. They were married 45 years. Their son Dale was born November 21, 1958 in Charleston, SC; and their son Michael was born August 15, 1972 in Mascoutah, ILL. They eventually settled in St. Louis, where Lydia lived until September 2009.After Floyd's death, December 2, 2002, she met and married James Schneider on February 26, 2009. Because of their mutual love for their Lord, Jesus Christ, they wanted to live their remaining years in His service. They left St. Louis and moved to Colorado Springs, CO to attend Andrew Wommack's Charis Bible College, starting September 1, 2009; where they completed the 3 year program. They bought their current home in Colorado Springs, CO. In May of 2012 Lydia was diagnosed with returning breast cancer, which metastasized and got into her blood, resulting in bone cancer throughout her body. Initially, she was given 3 to 6 months to live. As a result of Radiation treatments to her face, skull, and spine, and the Grace of God, her life was extended to over a year.
