William McGaugh
December 29th, 1926 - November 8th, 2011
William (Bill) McGaugh, 84, Colorado Springs passed away on November 8, 2011. He was born in Excelsior Springs, MO on 29 December 1926 to Edgar and Ella (Kindred) McGaugh. He married Swiss born Rita Streit in 1961. Bill worked at TWA for 33 years which enabled him to live and travel internationally. He lived in France, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and many states across the US. Throughout his career he held a number of positions in cargo, passenger services, crew training, ground support and eventually TWA special services. He served as Manager of Logistics Planning for the Kennedy Space Center during the Apollo Space Program. After his time at NASA he served as Transportation Advisor to the Bahraini Government responsible for managing the transportation services for the entire country. After retirement from TWA he owned and operated several companies. The first was Relco International, where he continued as the Transportation Advisor to the Bahraini Government. Later Bill led other companies including Environmental International and Intercontinental Marketing. Bill was a veteran of two wars and honorably served in both World War II and Korea. Bill was a kind and gentle man who never knew a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife Rita, children Edward (wife Melanie) McGaugh and Marta (husband Jim) Hannon, grandchildren Tyler, Mitchell, Jamie and Kenneth. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011, 1PM at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80909Special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center and Evercare Hospice of Colorado Springs for the care they provided during Bill's final months. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evercare Hospice of Colorado Springs.
