Bernice Prehn
April 12th, 1921 - September 25th, 2010
Bernice Prehn was born to John and Bernice Piwonski on April 12, 1921 in Hamtrack, Michigan. On August 28, 1942 Bernice signed up for the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps and started her training November 29, 1942 at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. She was a Surgical Technician at Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland and later served at the Army's 98th General Hospital in Germany. Bernice married Gerhard E. Prehn, a German soldier on March 12, 1949 in Germany. Bernice is survived by her daughters, Shirley Ellis and Marlene Nelson and sons, Gary, Richard, Paul, and Marty. She had 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Her husband Gerhard passed away in 2007.Viewing will be Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E.
