William "Bill" J. Smith, Jr.August 14, 1924 – August 3, 2010Bill, 85 was born in Maysville, Oklahoma to William J. Smith, Sr. and Fannie R. Brown. Bill passed away in Peyton, Colorado on August 3, 2010 after a long illness. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 40 years. He served in the Army Air Corps as a Gunnery Instructor. He was a Civil Service Electrical Engineer for forty years and retired from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1984.He married Printha N. Warner in Corpus Christi, Texas on May 14, 1951. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Printha, a son Warren R. Smith and a brother, Marcus E. Smith.He is survived by daughters, Karan (Scott) Miller and Renee (Paul) Herbert, three grandchildren, Garrett Miller, Nolan (Michiyo) Miller, and Leah (John) Koller and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Marshall, Mertie Jo Meite and brother Charles Smith (Barbara).Bill loved his family, friends, golfing and gambling. It always brought a smile to his face and a twinkle in his eye to head up to Cripple Creek for a day or out on any golf course.Bill will be truly missed by his friends and family.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice in Bill's memory.Memorial Service will be Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 10:00AM at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E.
