Donald "Don" Herbst

Donald "Don" Herbst was born in Santa Barbara, California and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado when he was 4 years old. Don always had a passion for the mountains, fishing, hunting, hiking. In the early to mid 80's he was an avid runner and participated in many local races. Don was a real one, he would do anything for anybody. He never said a cruel word about anyone. He was sincere and genuine. He passed no judgement and loved with all of his heart. He was known by many names: Dad, Daddy, Big Don, Big Guy, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Friend. He dedicated his professional career to the automotive industry - mainly Ford Motor Company. He took pride in his work, and had the utmost work ethic which he passed along to his children. His love for his family - all of his family is immeasurable. From holidays, birthday parties, fishing, vacations, or even a visit on the porch or lately at his home. He treasured those times and valued the memories. He would want us all to remember him smiling and enjoying life! He loved his motorcycle on the open road. To attend rodeos with his 10 gallon hat, or the round of golf that was played. His zest for life and his words of wisdom will never be forgotten. Don is survived by his wife of the second time Dolores; his son Don; his daughter Bonnie; his grandchildren Adrianna, Joey (wife Makaila); his sister Lavina Ramirez in Montana; numerous nieces and nephews; and many sister and brother in-laws, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Donald F Herbst; his mother Lena Witaker; and his brother Jack Herbst. Don lived a great life and fought his final days through the pain with a smile on his face and a joke to tell.
