Stephen Hale Johnson

Stephen Hale Johnson, 80, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, entered the Kingdom of his Heavenly Father on July 10, 2023. Stephen was born on August 20, 1942, to Edward and Eloise (McKay) Johnson in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was raised in Batavia, Illinois, and Grand Junction, Colorado, graduating from Grand Junction High School in 1960. On May 25, 1973, Stephen married Paula (Webster) in Golden, Colorado, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They raised five children and a few foster children as well. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, J.D. Stull. He is survived by his wife, Paula; his five children, Steve (Trish) Johnson of Craig, Colorado, Laurie (Mark) Bohne of Quincy, Illinois, Dale Johnson of Craig, Colorado, Keith (Jamie) Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Samantha Pacheco of Colorado Springs, Colorado; older twin brothers, Owen and Neil Johnson; twin sister, Susan Poe; and sister, Joanne Barry; numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Stephen worked on the oil rigs in his youth, as well as Coors Brewery, Golden; Rust Geotech, Inc, Grand Junction; and United States Enrichment Corporation, Lawrence/Livermore, and retired from Jacobs Engineering, Denver, in 2012 as a Subcontract Manager. Stephen and Paula loved to travel, taking trips to Germany, Switzerland, Brussels, Canada, the Bahamas, and Mexico, including several cruises to different parts of the world. Stephen was an avid reader and enjoyed books on mining, early American History, and Westerns. His passion, however, was his faith in the Lord and maintaining the church’s food pantry with his wife, Paula. He enjoyed meeting and greeting the people at the pantry and listening to their stories.
