Michael J O'Donnell

Michael J. O'Donnell passed away on October 28, 2021 at the age of 88. Michael was born February 3, 1933, on Staten Island, New York to Michael and Cecelia O'Donnell. He joined the U.S. Air Force right out of school during the Korean War, where he spent two years teaching basic electronics at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and two years in Japan on a team maintaining an airfield control tower and equipment. After the war he spent one year in Taiwan as an advisor with the Chinese Air Force. Michael worked at RCA for a number of years, but the major part of his career was with USA Satellite Communications Agency at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, working on research and development, satellite communications, compatibility and other projects. After retirement, Michael and his wife, Sue, moved to Nokomis, Florida and frequently indulged their love of world travel and photography. In addition to taking an active part in the Calusa Lakes community by acting as unofficial photographer at events, they worked together as poll worker trainers and poll workers with the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections. Michael is survived by his wife, Sue Brady and daughter, Tammy O'Donnell of Eatontown, New Jersey. Funeral Services will be 11:00 Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Farley funeral Home in Venice with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.
