Richard David Walker, 88, passed away on October 18, 2021, at his home in North Port FL. Richard was born on September 4, 1933, to John and Etta Walker of Plain Dealing LA. He served in the United States Army from 1953 through 1956 as a Medic (Staff Sergeant) stationed in Alaska. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1956 through 1960 as a Medic (Airman First Class) stationed in Alaska and served during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Tampa Fire Department in 1983 with 20 years of service. Married to Caroline Burns for approximately five years and had two sons John and Clinton Walker and one daughter Trudie Walker-Shaver. He worked at Tampa General Hospital where he met and later married Ellnora Walker on March 31, 1963. He became step parent to Joseph Bazarte and Sandra Bazarte Kendrew. He and Ellnora had two daughters Shirley (Walker) Foley and Karen Walker-Winnings. He had 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Ellnora Walker; two sons, Clinton and John Walker; three daughters, Trudie Walker Shaver, Karen Walker-Winnings, and Shirley (Walker) Foley; step son, Joseph Bazarte; 9 grandchildren, Rachel Foley, Rebecca Foley, Jacqueline Bazarte, Phillip Winnings, Erica Kendrew, Jessica (Kendrew) Baranowsky, Jake Shaver, Amanda Shaver Cason, Nathan Walker; 10 great-grandchildren, Ava Baranowsky, Olivia Baranowsky, Avery Winnings, Aiden Winnings, Annelise Cason, Hayden Cason, Easton Cason, Layla Shaver, Brenna Shaver, Seraphina Shaver; and one brother, Pete (Edwin) Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Etta, Ray and Evie Mae; brothers, Bobby, Gene, Buddy, and George; step-daughter, Sandra Bazarte-Kendrew; and his grandson, Lucas Walker. A Funeral Service will be held on November 4, 2021 at 10:00am at Farley Funeral Home in North Port (5900 S. Biscayne Drive, North Port, FL 34287) and burial will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery at 12:30pm (9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241). In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Tidewell Hospice in honor of Richard Walker.
