The family of Fred P. Toot would like to announce his passing on August 28, 2021. The son of John Texter and Dorothy Wolfgang Toot, Fred was born in Amsterdam, NY. Fred was married to Janet Wulff of Springfield, MA. Fred and Jan celebrated their 60th anniversary this June. Fred has a brother, Paul Toot and sister, Suzanne Wallace. Fred had a long and successful career with the YMCA, retiring in 1999. He and Janet were living in Englewood, FL. While growing up in Amsterdam, Fred was very proud of earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Fred attended Springfield College where he and Jan met. They were married shortly after graduating in 1961. During Fred's career with the YMCA, he served as a director of summer camps, executive director of YMCA's and CEO of multi-site Y's throughout New England and NY before retirement. He valued the friendships of his Y colleagues. Fred was active in the community, serving as president of the Rotary club in Pittsfield, MA. During that time the Rotary club helped build a school in their sister city in Ecuador. Fred and Jan loved to travel with friends and visited many countries and states. Fred was very proud and active with the Masons, Shriners and the Jesters. He enjoyed his times and travels with his fellow Jesters, visiting Panama, Boston and many locations. Fred stayed busy after retirement, he was elected to the Master Boards of the Glades Condo Association in Naples, FL, and the Park Forest Association in Englewood, FL, where he continued to better these communities. Fred always developed great friendships with the people around him. Fred is survived by his family members including his wife Janet, brother Paul and Janet B. Toot, sister Suzanne and Bill Wallace, two sons, Greg and Lori Toot, Scott and Anita Toot, grandsons, Keegan and Robin Toot , Kyle Toot and TJ and Kacey Toot and great grandchildren Sawyer and Mackenzie Toot. Fred has many cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 12502 USF Pine Dr., Tampa, FL. 33612-9411
