Ruth Johnson
February 20th, 1922 - July 27th, 2021
Ruth was born to Walter and Olga Park in Eveleth, MN. She graduated from Eveleth High School, already showing artistic talent. She worked in the U.S. WWII production effort (Rosie the Riveter), then married and had 2 children, Nancy and Chuck. She and the kids moved back to Eveleth and lived with her parents until she married Arnie R. Johnson, lifelong resident of Makinen, MN. Ruth and Arnie were married until 2002, when Arnie died from leukemia. Ruth moved to Florida to live with daughter Nancy and son-in-law Jerry Jones in Sarasota, then North Port. They lovingly cared for her until she moved into North Port Nursing and Rehab, where she was cared for and loved by staff until she died. She also received loving care from Mettle Stratum Hospice staff, especially Kathy. Ruth produced many art works in various media, some serious and some humorous. She passed her knowledge on to many students. Ruth was preceded in death by former husband Ed, husband Arnie, her parents, daughter Nancy, granddaughter Brenda, sister Helen and brother-in-law Novlan, many other relatives and dear friends. She is survived by son Chuck (Barb), son-in-law Jerry Jones (Pat) and Lulu, grandchildren Marnie Helberg (Adam), Kathy Sell (Dave), Vince Popovich (Dean'a), Jason Durham, great-grand and great-great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on Saturday 8-14-21 at 2 pm in Makinen, MN with inurnment at Makinen Cemetery. SISU!
