Michael Paul Smith
March 27th, 1954 - July 16th, 2021
Michael Paul “Smitty” Smith, age 67, of Venice, Florida and formerly of Galloway Township, New Jersey, passed away on July 16, 2021. He was born on March 27, 1954 in Pleasantville, New Jersey to Frank Monroe and Veronica L. (Carberry) Smith. Smitty was a housing contractor and bartender at the Black Cat Bar in Absecon, NJ and after his retirement in 2008 he moved to Venice, Florida. He was a military veteran and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Smitty is survived by his wife & best friend, Mary R. Smith of Venice, Florida; a son, Michael P. Smith, Jr of Mays Landing, N.J.; a daughter, Michele L. Smith of Venice, FL; four grandchildren, Brianna & Stephen Gargione and Gianna & Michael Peter Smith; brothers, Frank Smith and John (Nancy) Smith both of Absecon, NJ, William (Annette) Korte of FL and sisters, Kristina Wheeler Korte of NC, Karen Korte (Carlos) Martinez of Mays Landing, NJ, Donna Korte of Pleasantville, NJ and Monica (Tim) Gordon of Chelsea Heights, NJ; a sister-in-law, Betty Chambers and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins. Smitty was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim Smith. Services will be private for the family.
