David James McIlwrath, 69, passed away on April 17th, 2021 in Venice, FL. He was born on March 26, 1952 to James and Victoria McIlwrath in Manhattan, NY. He graduated from Hicksville High School in 1970, and attended Hofstra University where he was on the Men's Lacrosse Team. David was a part of the Bay Indies Golf Club, and enjoyed baking, cooking, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Bonnie-Jean McIlwrath (née Dacey) of Venice, FL, his mother Victoria McIlwrath, his daughters Lindsay (William) Dunphy of Sarasota, FL, Brigid (Daniel) McIlwrath of New York, NY, Kellian (Jimmy) Deuterman of Bristow, VA, Shannon (Kaala) Rapoza of Springfield, VA, and Colleen (Mark) Minuto of Bristow VA. His granddaughters Keira Dunphy, Violet Dunphy, soon-to-be-granddaugher Isla Dunphy, Kalina Rapoza, Halle Rapoza, and grandsons Brennan Rapoza, Reid Minuto, Gavin Minuto, Beckett Minuto, and Holden Minuto, sister Phyllis (Joseph) McBride, brother William McIlwrath and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father James McIlwrath. David will be remembered as a loving husband and father with an infectious laugh. A memorial service will be held on May 8th from 12:00-4:00 PM at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Homes, 47 Jerusalem Ave, Hicksville, NY 11801.
