Joseph R. Rich, at the age of 101, passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2021 in Venice, Florida. He was born on February 5, 1920 in Chicago, IL to Louis and Anne Rich. He attended Northwestern University and proudly served in the US Army World War II. Joseph married Irene Havlichek (D) on January 19, 1944, and together they raised six children. Gregory (Roberta), Donna Thomas, Diane Dziedzic (John), Raymond (Deanna), Joseph (D), Christine Mcconachie (John). Joseph married Janice Mathews on October 11,1980 and with her daughters, Kathie Rudy (Jerry), Amy Grahn (Jeff), together they have eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Joseph worked many years with John Sexton Company, a national food supplier, where he was Vice President of Sales. Upon retirement, he worked as a consultant in food services for the Salvation Army rehabilitation centers nationally. He also volunteered as a Philosophy book reviewer for publishing houses. He was very active in the Catholic Church, raising funds for the new church in Northbrook, IL and working with the Green Lake, WI church. He had a passion working with area businesses to provide food supplies and goods for local nursing homes. Joseph will be remembered for his zest for life, quick wit, love for his grandchildren, Italian music, and wine. He will be missed and loved always.
